"Friendship"

These are photos of a table that I have painted for an old friend. In fact, she was my very first friend. We were next door neighbors for the first 17 years of my life and lost touch for many years. Luckily we have reconnected and I am thrilled.
In painting this table I really wanted to portray her free spirit and generous heart. It also had to exude a sense of fun and whimsy,as even after all these years I can see that these qualities are paramount to her existence. I hope that she will enjoy this piece for many years to come.
I lost my father three years ago and during his illness and death I found out who my true friends are. I learned that not all friendships are meant to last forever and during that difficult time realized that certain relationships had run their course. I guess that throughout our lives we come across many different types of friends and sometimes we grow apart and take different paths.Sometimes the negative outways the positive and it is time to move on. I am very fortunate to have,in my life,a few very special people, who I know will be there for me no matter what and vice versa. Now I have also been given another gift, that of rediscovering an old friendship. I never could have imagined that after over thirty years, we would find each other again. So for everything that ends there is always a new beginning and for that I am forever grateful!
